PAT Testing
In 2007 over 60 percent of all accidental fires were caused by electrical equipment.
Faulty or misused electrical products caused over 20,000 fires across the country in 2007 with accidental electrical fires in the home resulting in 40 deaths and nearly 4,000 casualties. Last year there were over 15000 enforcement notices for lack of health & safety (of which pat testing is a part) resulting in over 11 million pounds in fines!
Choosing the correct company to carry out your pat testing could be daunting as their are quite a few around , and most report to say they work to IEE codes, but we would always ask these questions because we want to ensure the work you have carried out is correct.
Q Are they in any quality schemes to check for work, insurance, qualifications, record keeping, machine calibration, safety checks? We are in ISO901:2008 and CHAS.
Q Are they fully qualified – Yes our engineers are NICEIC City & Guilds passed.
Imagine someone buying a pat machine off an auction site and turning up at your premise with no qualifications, no insurance, no experience, it can and does happen.
Because we are in these quality schemes you can be rest assured that your pat testing is carried out correctly
Sir Ken Knight, the Government's Chief Fire and Rescue Adviser said:
"Fire in the home or work can be devastating, but many of these fires are preventable. Over half of all accidental fires begin with an electrical appliance, so it's really important that everyone makes sure that their electrics are in good working order and are used properly."
